Diego Giacoman
Diego Giacoman Aramayo holds degrees in economics and philosophy. He has conducted academic research and analysis on the issue of coca cultivation and alternative development. He was in charge of the Drug Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the Vice-Ministry of Social Defense and Controlled Substances. While holding that position, he participated in the on-going reform of Law 1008, the Controlled Substances and Coca Regime, and the design of the government strategy on drug trafficking and the coca leaf. He has spent the last three years researching political economy in Bolivia’s northern Amazon region.
